If Cliff Burton had lived, what would Metallica have sounded like in 1988?

I recently read a biography on Cliff and I think ...And Justice for All would have had more thrash influence and you could actually hear the base. He DID say that he wanted to move into calmer music eventually and from what I gather, he may very well would have liked the black album because that's what he was aiming for eventually. Of course it would have been more melodic with more bass solo time but it is what it is. It could also be predicted that Metallica may have even moved into a little bit of jazz influence as well if he were still around
